Scallop shucking legend Paul Gidney demonstrates proper scallop shucking techniques while showing off his incredible speed and skill. You can bet I ran right up when he offered the chance to try a Digby scallop fresh and raw right from the shell. It was delicious! It was a highlight of the Scallop Days festival in Digby, Nova Scotia.

Four competitors compete for the title of fastest scallop shucker at the Digby Scallop Days festival in Digby, Nova Scotia. Many time world champion Paul Gidney shucked along with them, shucking twice as many scallops as the winner! As you can hear, I sat next to the daughter of one of the competitors. She was VERY excited!

Highland Storm is a fantastic annual show put on by the students and staff of the College of Piping and Celtic Performing Arts of Canada in Summerside, PEI. Here they show off their bagpiping and drumming skills. The video doesn’t do it justice. Seeing it in person is even more impressive! (Even though I have a copy of the program, I don’t know exactly which song this is. Please feel free to let me know.)

Highland Storm is a fantastic annual show put on by the students and staff of the College of Piping and Celtic Performing Arts of Canada in Summerside, PEI. James McHattie, the school’s principal, plays the bagpipes like no one I’ve ever seen before. His talent is incredible. He’s accompanied here by Trevor Profit on fiddle. Seeing it in person is even more impressive! (Even though I have a copy of the program, I don’t know exactly which song this is. Please feel free to let me know in the comments.)

A short time lapse taken aboard the mv Confederation as it closes up and pulls away from the Woods Islands ferry terminal in Prince Edward Island. We’re on our way away from PEI to cross the Northumberland Strait to Carribou, Nova Scotia.
