Toronto & Southern Ontario – Day 5

July 2018

After checking out of our hotel in Barrie we headed to The Blue Mountains to go to Scenic Cave Adventures. We started to hike into the cave since it was included in the admission but it was just too hot and humid and we were actually there to walk across the narrow pedestrian only suspension bridge. So we hiked back to the bridge and enjoyed the views. Next, it was off to Peterborough to visit the lift lock. It's part of the Trent-Severn Waterway. The marine railway we visited yesterday was too. We arrived just in time to see a houseboat pass through the lock. We also happened to visit on the 114th birthday of this impressive feat of engineering. We ended up the day in Toronto, which would be our home for the remaining 5 days of the trip. After getting settled in, we walked to Wayne Gretzky's restaurant for dinner. Might as well get used to walking. It'll be more of that than driving from here on out.
