Columbia County, PA

October 2022

Over the long Columbus Day weekend, we took a trip to the only town in Pennsylvania, Bloomsburg. (Really, it's the only municipality in PA that's classified as a town vs a township, city, borough, etc.) They were having a covered bridge festival at their fairgrounds with over 300 vendors. We walked many miles up and down the rows of vendors and sampled some fair foods. We decided to tour the many covered bridges of Columbia and Montour Counties on our own instead of taking the bus. Over the course of the weekend, we visited 23 bridges and I have the photos to prove it! We also went to the Berwick RiverFest. That was more of a traditional small town festival with entertainment, food, etc. They had airboat rides on the Susquehanna River that we did not partake in but we did attend the tractor pull. I'll never look at my disappointing lawnmower the same way again! I also crossed an item off my bucket list and visited Centralia, site of the long burning underground coal fire. Those photos are in their own album here.
