No Scottish Festival is complete without bagpipers. There were plenty of them at the Kincardine Scottish Festival. The parade included many pipe bands. Shown here are the hometown Kincardine Scottish Pipe Band, Hamilton Police Pipe Band and Toronto Police Pipe Band along with a Scotty dog named Thistle riding in a remote-control truck just for good measure.

Kincardine Scottish Festival also includes Highland Games. We trekked down the hill twice to spend a few hours watching these guys compete in sports that would injure most normal people. Check out the caber toss, hammer throw, weight for height and sheaf toss competitions.

The Big Chute Marine Railway lifts boats out of the water, carries them across a small strip of land and puts them back in the water on the other side. It’s one of the locks on the Trent-Severn Waterway in southern Ontario.

Yonge-Dundas Square is a fun place to hang out any time of day, but on this summer evening we got to enjoy the music of a guy named Willan from Ecuador, also known as Tribu. He played a variety of flutes.
