Kentucky and Indiana – Day 6

March - April 2018

We spent much of day 6 at Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington. It's a massive place. The weather turned out to be great. We took a ride on a tram pulled by Clydesdales, got up close with all sorts of horses including some giant draft horses and even "met" a few former Kentucky Derby winners! I'm not one to get star struck by athletes, but those horses were pretty impressive. After a short stop in Bardstown, we headed to our next hotel in Lebanon just in time for the weather to take a serious turn for the worse. Some major storms passed through causing a tornado warning. So, we spent the evening hunkered down taking shelter on the interior of the ground floor of the hotel with other guests and the night manager. Thankfully, despite some serious rotation in the storm, no actual tornado formed. There did turn out to be some serious damage in the next county over though.
