Kentucky and Indiana – Day 4

March - April 2018

We started the day with a brisk walk across the Big Four Bridge. It's only a mile across but with the great views, it's hard not to stop every few steps and take photos. The bridge goes to Jeffersonville, Indiana. We only walked a few blocks away from the bridge. After walking back to Kentucky, we drove to La Grange. The town is famous for the freight trains that run on tracks straight down Main Street. All of the cars pull over as up to 30 massive freight trains per day rumble through the small town. We were eating lunch in a restaurant on Main Street when one came by. First, the floor starts to shake then you're suddenly greeted by a wall of train! After driving back to Louisville, we went to the Louisville Zoo, which ironically sits atop the Mega Cavern that we visited earlier in the trip. We finished the day with a stop back to see the Big Four Bridge lit up after dark and we had dinner at White Castle near our hotel. Yes, we actually ate at a fast food restaurant on vacation. We don't have White Castle at home and never tried it before. It was good!
