March 2016
After a flight into O'Hare, we arrived at our hotel late in the evening. We chose to stay at a boutique hotel called theWit that's technically part of Hilton's Doubletree brand but in name (and the free cookies at the front desk) only. It features a 27 story lightning bolt on the front of the building, constant soothing nature sounds in the hallways that change with the time of day and custom designed vanilla scent pumped into the lobby. Our room on the 23rd floor overlooked State Street with views of the river, Marina City and the State & Lake L station. Before heading to bed, I discovered that, despite the high floor, the windows opened enough to lean out and take some great photos of State Street and the iconic Chicago Theatre which was only a block down from theWit.
