Canadian Maritimes – Day 7

August 2016

Charlottetown was one of the few places we stayed for more than one night. So, Day 7 was a full day in Charlottetown. Besides being a great summer vacation/holiday destination for many Canadians, it's also the birthplace of Canada. Being from the Philadelphia area, this is of particular interest to me. Just as we have the Founding Fathers, Canada has the Fathers of the Confederation. Even though Province House was closed for renovations, the actual Confederation Chamber was recreated next door at the Confederation Centre for the Arts. We took in some more Canadian history with a guided tour of PEI's Government House. We headed out to Cow's Creamery's headquarters for a tour of their ice cream, cheese and t-shirt making operations. Then it was back downtown to Victoria Row for dinner. I actually ate something besides seafood because I had to sample PEI beef at some point. Back at the hotel, we had a dessert of the Tim Horton's donuts we'd picked up earlier in the day. You didn't think we were done with Tim's yet, did you?
