April 2015
Other than a few visits to Las Vegas, I've never spent much time in the desert. Therefore, a spring vacation in New Mexico was a great chance to explore an environment that is foreign to a native of the East Coast. I have to say that I've heard "but it's a dry heat" many times over the years but now I can finally appreciate it! We spent almost the entire time outside in the beautiful dry weather except for when we were enjoying all of the amazing New Mexican cuisine. I think I ate my weight in enchiladas, chili cheeseburgers and sopapillas plus more red and green chilies than I usually eat in a year. We visited the site where the atomic age was born, climbed pristine white sand dunes, rode to the top of a 10,000-foot mountain, took a hot air balloon flight, visited an Indian Pueblo that's been around for nearly 1000 years and so much more!
