Hoonah (Icy Point Strait)
July 2010
Our stop in Hoonah was a short one, but was probably the most interesting of the cruise portion of the trip. Hoonah is a Tlingit village. We took a tour that was guided by a Tlingit woman. It was fascinating to learn how the Alaskan Natives have such a different attitude towards life than the American Indians in the “lower 48.” After warming up by the campfire, and being tendered back to the ship that was anchored just offshore, we spent the rest of the day relaxing. I was sick this day so the photo taking ended once I got back aboard the ship.
