While on a trip to Western Maryland and West Virginia, we stopped by the Penn Alps restaurant. It's a really cool German/Pennsylvania Dutch restaurant that has been in operation for decades. The food was delicious and plentiful. Adjacent to Penn Alps are the Spruce Forest artisans' village, the Yoder house and the historic Casselman Bridge, which once carried the National Road.

The Yoder House makes for a fascinating tour
Built for the National Road, the Casselman Bridge is nearly 200 years old.
Before heading into Penn Alps for a delicious German dinner, we visited Spruce Forest

This cool little root cellar was by far my favorite part of the Yoder House. I need one of these!
