August 2009
While on an extended business trip to Naval Station Newport, I got a chance to get out on the weekend and do some sightseeing. Besides walking about 10 miles, I took tours of two mansions (The Breakers & Marble House), toured the Breaker's stables & carriage house, walked part of the Cliff Walk and did some shopping. If you have to unexpectedly be stuck somewhere, Newport is a good choice!

You can barely see the Newport Bridge through all the boats anchored in the harbor

The Breakers mansion is beyond huge

This makes my little solar lights look really pathetic

Like everything at the Breakers mansion, the gates are huge

The back of the Breakers is as impressive as the front

You just don't see enough statues honoring Hurdy Gurdy men
