Christmas in Lancaster

December 2007

When I was a little kid, my grandparents would take me to Lancaster, PA to go to Dutch Wonderland, the Strasburg Railroad, the Choo-Choo Barn and other really cool places. When we were out there, we would stay at a little motel called The Willows. It was like stepping into the 70's. My favorite thing about it was The Willows Covered Bridge. This small covered bridge was on their property. It is the whole reason why I have such an interest in covered bridges today. In late 2007, I was Googling and trying to find out what happened to The Willows. As it turns out, it was demolished about 10 years ago and the American Music Theatre now sits on the site. For Christmas, we took my grandfather to the theatre for their annual Christmas show. It was sad seeing that the motel is long gone, and the open space around it is now home to a Target, Panera Bread and a ton of other stores, but the show was a lot of fun.
