Most people might think the summer is the best time to go down the shore. I much prefer to go in the fall or winter. The crowds are smaller; the weather is so much nicer and much less smog. I just added some photos from Atlantic City that turned out great because it was such a clear day.Check them out right here.
Big Photo Update
I just added a bunch of new photos to the photos sectoin of the site. The first group is from July and is just a few snaps of flowers in the yard and a baby bunny rabbit in the yard.
The next contains photos from a Camden County Board of Freeholders meeting during which the man who saved my father’s life when he was choking at a diner was honored for his heroism. View those here.
Another small new album contains a few photos of a squirrel that I thought came out kind of nice. I’ll fill you in on the other bigger additions in separate posts. In the mean time check out all of my photos.
Ask a gas pump for directions
Back “in the old days” when you were lost you’d stop at a gas station and ask the attendant for directions. Here in New Jersey we still have the luxury of having an attendant come to our car when we pull in, but in the rest of the states where they have self-serve gas, you’d be hard pressed to find an attendant. You swipe your card, pump your gas and go.
Luckily, getting lost isn’t much of a problem now that we have GPS, cell phones and Google Maps. But now things have gone full circle. If you leave home and forget to map your route first, you can pull into a gas station and ask the pump for directions thanks to an internet connection and Google Maps.

Batsto Photos
If you’ve never heard of Batsto, it’s an historic village in New Jersey. It’s an old 18th/19th century bog iron and glass industrial center. I’ve been there many times through the years and took some photos on a recent trip.
Check them out here.
Lots of Fluffy photos
I’ve updated the album featuring our cat Fluffy. It includes photos from his entire life including photos that were taken before digital cameras were around. We lost him recently and I figured this was a fitting tribute to his memory.

and then there were 6
Just when I thought the Gatti family tree was up to date Debbie’s branch of the tree has sprouted yet another new leaf. OK, maybe I’m taking the tree metaphor a bit far! Please welcome Micah John Bowling to the family. He was born August 24th to Wendy and Michael Bowling. For those keeping score, that makes 6 members of Generation H of the Gatti tree, all of whom are grandchildren of Debbie and great-grandchildren of Sonny and Dot.
A new member of our youngest generation
Welcome to the newest member of the Gatti family. Jayden John Van Houten was born to Elissa Van Houten on June 29th. Thanks to Debbie for keeping me up to date on her quickly growing branch of the tree!
Half of Scott and Casey is back
In the past I’ve mentioned Scott & Casey, the great radio show that used to be on NJ 101.5. They were replaced with Carton and Rossi, a really terrible show. I never liked Craig Carton when he was on WIP an liked him less when he came to NJ 101.5. So, I was excited when I saw the news this morning that he had been chosen to replace Don Imus on WFAN in NYC. I figured odds are pretty good that his replacement would be someone better.
Well, imagine my excitement when I looked at 101.5’s website and saw that his replacement is none other than the guy who he replaced a few years ago, Casey Bartholomew! Casey obviously is the Casey of Scott and Casey. It remains to be seen how good the show will be with Ray Rossi still there, but I’ve never heard Rossi without Carton so it’s possible he’ll be good with Casey and without Carton’s obnoxious antics.
Where’s Scott, you may ask? I’m still hoping he winds up with Casey, but he’s currently posting content on scotthasick.com.

No Apple Key?
Back when I first starting using computers in third grade it was on an Apple IIc. There were two keys on each side of the space bar. One was the open apple key and one was the closed apple key. The closed apple key long ago went the way of 5.25 inch floppy drives and monochrome monitors. The open apple key has however, lived on for a few more decades on the command key.
Then on Tuesday Steve Jobs unveiled the newest Apple keyboards. The little cloverleaf symbol is still on the command key, but the open apple was replaced with the word “command.” It’s the end of an era. It’s kind of sad.
