September - October 2023
On day 5, we headed across the border into Canada. We walked around Clifton Hills where we had tickets to ride the Niagara SkyWheel. We made an obligatory visit to Tim Horton's before heading up the Skylon Tower twice. We went up once during daylight for the incredible views. Then we went up a second time for a fantastic and relaxing birthday dinner followed watching the fireworks from above.
We bought tickets for the Niagara SkyWheel
Yup, this is a tourist area
Every cheesy tourist distrist worth its salt has a Ripley's museum.
Looking back across to the USA and the American Falls
The Maid of the Mist heads into the mist of the Horseshoe Falls
Today's our day on the Canadian side of the border
I always knew this as the Minolta Tower. Now it has the creative name of Tower Hotel.
It's amazing how much water is coming over these falls
Looking back across to the USA and the American Falls
I love a ferris wheel with climate controlled gondolas
You get quite a view from the top of the SkyWheel
I cannot go to Canada and not stop at Tim's
I went wild and got an iced capp with my usual honey crueller
Rainbow Bridge & American Falls as seen from the top of the Skylon tower
American Falls as seen from the top of the Skylon tower
From the Skylon tower, you can see how rocky the base of the American Falls is and how close the Maid of the Mist gets.
From our view atop the Skylon, we can see how massive the Niagara River really is.
Clifton Hill has entertainment in every form
Back on ground level at the base of the Skylon
The observation tower is one of the best features of the New York side of the falls
People pay to get soaked at the base of Bridal Veil Falls. We did not do that.
We did a little souvenir shopping at Queen Victoria Place
I remember standing in this exact spot when I was here as a kid. It's no less incredible now.
Gee, I wonder why they call it Rainbow Bridge?

The Falls Inclide Railway saves a tough climb up to street level

After walking all day, this ride on the Falls Incline Railway was a good, albeit short, break.
We don't win at Canadian Casinos either.
The casino's atrium was decorated for Fall
Our table at dinner at the Skylon had a nice view of the American Falls.

Another must when in Canada, a butter tart!
