Our first day was mainly a travel day. We left home and drove up through New York to Vermont. However, since we rarely have a simple travel day, we stopped at The Vermont Country Store on the way. I'd ordered from there many times so it seemed logical to peruse it in person. We also had lunch at Mildred's Cafe while there. After leaving the store, we made a small wrong turn. It's no big deal in the era of GPS and Google Maps, but it ironically took us right by the other Vermont Country Store location. So, of course, we checked that out too. Then we stopped at 3 covered bridges before checking into our hotel. We went to the first night of the balloon festival, but thanks to high winds, no balloons were even unpacked. Oh well, there would be 4 more attempts at launches over the weekend.
